Running through May 2027, the initiative will bring an increased police presence to Tampa’s roadways to help raise awareness about Florida’s traffic laws and the shared responsibility of everyone using the streets. Officers will conduct targeted enforcement and educational outreach, aiming to improve safety for pedestrians, bicyclists, and motorists alike.
Behind every person on the road is someone who cares about them,” said Acting Chief Brett Owen. “Through education and enforcement, we can help save lives, prevent tragedies, and make our roads safer for everyone.”
As part of the campaign, officers will focus efforts on several high-traffic areas throughout the city, including:
- East Busch Boulevard
- West Hillsborough Avenue
- North Nebraska Avenue
- East Fowler Avenue
- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard
- West Kennedy Boulevard
- North Florida Avenue
- North and South Dale Mabry Highway
- Downtown Area
The campaign is part of the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow initiative. Funded through a contract with FDOT and IPTM, the program prioritizes education and enforcement in areas with a history of severe crashes, with the goal of preventing future injuries and deaths.
