Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash that occurred in the 5500 block of East Orem Drive about 9 p.m. on August 30.
The suspect, Luz Villegas, 20, is charged with manslaughter in the 232nd Criminal District Court. A booking photo of Villegas is attached to the news release.
The identity of the deceased female, 24, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Garcia and Officer T. Johnson reported:
A white Jeep Cherokee was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound near the above address when the driver struck a maroon Honda Accord. The Honda was exiting a residential neighborhood.
Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the rear passenger in the Honda deceased at the scene. The driver and front passenger were transported to an area hospital.
Villegas, the driver of the Jeep, was not injured and was determined to be impaired. He was arrested and charged for his role in this incident.
