The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announces the establishment of Youth Curfew Zones.
Mayor’s Order 2026-086 gives the Chief of the Metropolitan Police Department the authority to designate a Youth Curfew Zone, applicable to a group of at least nine youth, in an area at risk for disorderly conduct by youth.

The perimeter of the Brightwood/ Emery Heights Zone is as follows:
- To the North: Quackenbos Street, NW from 8th Street, NW to 13th Street, NW
- To the East: 8th Street, NW from Quackenbos Street, NW to Longfellow Street, NW
- To the South: Longfellow Street, NW from 8th Street, NW to 13th Street, NW
- To the West: 13th Street, NW from Quackenbos Street, NW to Longfellow Street, NW
The perimeter of the Banneker Rec Center/ U Street Zone is as follows:
- To the North: Euclid Street, NW, from Georgia Avenue, NW to 11th Street, NW
- To the East: Georgia Avenue, NW, continuing on 7th Street, NW, from Euclid Street, NW, to T Street, NW
- To the West: 11th Street, NW, from Euclid Street, to V Street, NW, then V Street, NW, to 15th Street, NW
- To the South: T Street, NW, from 7th Street, NW, to 15th Street, NW
These Curfew Zones will be in effect from 8:00 p.m. to 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 21, through Sunday, August 23, 2026.
Within the Youth Curfew Zone, persons under 18 are prohibited from gathering in a group of nine (9) or more in any public place or on the premises of any establishment unless engaged in certain exempted activities, which are listed here .
MPD reminds the public that a citywide curfew is in effect for all youth under 18 beginning nightly at 12:01 a.m., lasting until 6:00 a.m. the following morning.
