Homicide Reported on Walnut Hill Lane in Dallas

On October 3, 2026, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a call for service in the 8200 block of Walnut Hill Lane. The preliminary investigation determined that 18-year-old Cristopher Nevarez and a 15-year-old male arrived at the hospital in a private vehicle after being shot at a different location. Mr. Nevarez appeared to be shot in the neck and was listed in critical condition, and the 15-year-old shot in the hand. As the investigation continued, it was determined that the 15-year-old shot Nevarez from behind while sitting in a car and shot himself in the hand. On October 5, the Dallas Police Fugitive Unit arrested the juvenile on a warrant for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. On October 7, Nevarez died; the charges in this case will be updated to reflect the appropriate offense of Manslaughter. The juvenile suspect remains in custody.
