Dallas Police: Flock Camera Grant Funds Secured

Dallas Police

Today, September 1, the Dallas Police Department received official notification regarding the impact of the State of Texas’ directive on grant funding used to support Flock Safety cameras.

As a result, 321 Flock cameras currently supported through affected state grant funding will no longer be eligible for that funding. To ensure compliance with the Governor’s directive, the Department will cancel those cameras effective September 15, 2026.

Following this change, DPD will continue to have more than 300 Flock cameras operating throughout Dallas. These cameras remain an important investigative tool and are used daily by detectives and officers to develop leads, identify vehicles associated with criminal activity, and assist in solving crimes.

The Dallas Police Department will continue evaluating available resources and technology to ensure our officers and detectives have effective tools to support investigations and enhance public safety.

Public Release.
