Two Arrested in Stanton Road Shooting

The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of two suspects in connection to a shooting that occurred Monday afternoon in Southeast.

On Monday, May 26, 2025, at approximately 4:38 p.m., MPD members were in the 3000 block of Stanton Road SE when they heard multiple sounds of gunshots coming from the immediate area. No one was injured in the shooting.

Officers saw a vehicle fleeing the area at a high rate of speed and called for the assistance of MPD’s Helicopter, Falcon 1. Falcon 1 safely tracked the suspect vehicle as it traveled to the 1700 block of West Virginia Avenue, Northeast, where two occupants were observed fleeing into a residence.

Fifth District officers surrounded the residence and a barricade was declared. Members of MPD’s Emergency Response Team responded to the scene and after several hours, two suspects were apprehended without incident. The suspects’ vehicle and multiple firearms were recovered.

As a result of the detectives’ investigation, 19-year-old Michael Brown, of Southeast, DC, and 19-year-old Shemar Morris, of Northeast, DC, were arrested and charged with Endangerment with a Firearm, Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm, Carrying a Pistol Without a License, Destruction of Property, Unlawful Use of a Vehicle, and Unlawful Entry.
