TRAFFIC ADVISORY: First Amendment Activity

On Saturday, October 18, 2025, there are multiple First Amendment activities occurring within the District of Columbia. In conjunction with these events, there will be parking restrictions and street closures that motorists should take into consideration. Further the Metropolitan Police Department would like to remind motorists and pedestrians of increased activity in the downtown area.

From Friday, October 17, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., through Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., the following street will be posted as Emergency No Parking and closed to vehicle traffic:

  • Pennsylvania Avenue from 3rd Street to Constitution Avenue, NW

On Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the following streets will be posted as Emergency No Parking:

  • 6th Street from C Street to Constitution Avenue, NW
  • Constitution Avenue from 7th Street to 6th Street, NW
  • U Street from 15th Street to 13th Street, NW
  • W Street from Martin Luther King Jr Avenue to 13th Street, SE

On Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the following streets will closed to vehicle traffic:

  • Pennsylvania Avenue from 3rd Street to 7th Street, NW
  • 6th Street from C Street to Constitution Avenue, NW
  • Constitution Avenue from 7th Street to 6th Street, NW
  • 3rd Street from Constitution Avenue to Independence Avenue, SW

On Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 5:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the following streets will closed to vehicle traffic:

  • W Street from Martin Luther King Jr Avenue to 13th Street, SE

On Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., the following street may experience temporary street closures:

  • 14th Street from Florida Avenue to F Street, NW

While the Metropolitan Police Department does not anticipate additional street closures, there is the potential for intermittent closures in the downtown area of the District of Columbia. Any decision to close a street will be based upon public safety.

The public is also reminded of other special events in the District which have parking restrictions and road closures to include The Race for Every Child 5K and the Washington Spirit game at Audi Field.

All street closures and listed times are subject to change based upon prevailing or unexpected conditions.

The public should expect parking restrictions along the street and should be guided by the posted emergency no parking signage. All vehicles that are parked in violation of the emergency no parking signs will be ticketed and towed.

Motorists could encounter possible delays if operating in the vicinity of this event and may wish to consider alternative routes. The Metropolitan Police Department and the D.C. Department of Transportation also wishes to remind motorists in the vicinity of this event to proceed with caution as increased pedestrian traffic can be anticipated.
