Charges have been filed against a third suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man in the 3500 block of Corder Street about 7:45 p.m. on August 3.
The suspect, Jermireon Javonta Franklin, 17, is charged with capital murder in the 497th Criminal District Court.
Two other suspects, Miquan Tyrell Wright, 20, and Crishaad Adams, 17, are also charged with capital murder in the 487th Criminal District Court. Booking photos of all three suspects are attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Jose Acosta, 19.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives K. Stringer and E. Torres II reported:
Officers responded to a shooting at the above address and located a vehicle in a ditch and Mr. Acosta suffering from a gunshot wound. Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics transported him to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased on August 4. A juvenile male, 15, who was also inside the vehicle when the shooting occurred was not injured.
Preliminary investigation indicates Mr. Acosta and the juvenile, his brother, were in the vehicle when they were robbed at gunpoint by three unknown males. Mr. Acosta attempted to flee in the vehicle when the suspects began shooting towards the vehicle, striking him.
Further investigation identified Crishaad Adams as a suspect in this incident. He was arrested and charged on August 21. On August 26, Wright was also arrested and charged for his role in this fatal shooting.
Investigators also identified Jermireon Franklin as a suspect in this incident. On August 28, he was subsequently charged and booked into Harris County Jail.
