TAMPA, FL. (June 25, 2025) – – The Tampa Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred early Sunday morning, June 22, 2025.
At approximately 3:20 am, Tampa Police Officers responded to a 911 call from a male who stated he had shot another man, claiming fear for his safety.
Officers arrived at W. Carmen St, just west of N. Oregon Ave, where they located the caller, a black male in his early 30s, who was still armed.
Officers quickly found an adult black male, in his late 40s, suffering from gunshot wounds next to the caller’s vehicle nearby, at W. Gray St and N. Oregon Ave. Officers immediately initiated life-saving measures until Tampa Fire Rescue arrived. The man was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.
The caller remained on the scene, cooperated with investigators, and surrendered his firearm.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Detectives continue to conduct interviews and gather additional evidence to determine if any criminal charges are applicable. The case will also be reviewed with the State Attorney’s Office for appropriate action.
