TAMPA, FL. (FEBRUARY 12, 2026) – – The Tampa Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Wednesday afternoon.
On February 11, 2026, just before 5:00 pm, Tampa Police Officers responded to the 1900 block of W. Green St. for the report of a shooting. Arriving within three minutes of the initial call, officers discovered a black male in his mid-60s who had been shot. Although officers and Tampa Fire Rescue personnel immediately attempted to save his life, the man tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
While very early in this active investigation, preliminary findings indicate that this was not a random act of violence. Detectives are actively gathering evidence, conducting interviews, and developing leads to determine the events that led to the shooting and identify the parties involved.
