Tampa Police

TAMPA, FL. (August 14, 2025) – – The Tampa Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred this morning at the Silver Oaks Apartments, located in the 4200 block of Kenneth Ct.

At approximately 10:20 am on August 14, 2025, Tampa Police Officers were dispatched to the apartment complex following reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers found a black male in his early 20s with gunshot wounds. Security personnel from the complex were already on scene providing first aid.

Tampa Police Officers immediately began providing emergency medical care until Tampa Fire Rescue arrived. The man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

A second individual, also a black male in his early 20s, was quickly located near the scene and detained without incident. He has been cooperative with the ongoing investigation. The gun believed to be involved in the shooting was recovered and taken into evidence.

While early in this investigation, preliminary information suggests that this was not a random act of violence. The individuals involved were known to each other, and the shooting appears to have stemmed from an escalating domestic dispute. This appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no threat to the public.

Detectives are now working diligently to gather all the facts and circumstances of this case and are committed to a thorough and impartial investigation to ensure justice is served. They will be consulting with the State Attorney’s Office to determine the appropriate course of action and any potential charges. Updates can be provided as they become available.
