The Tampa Police Department, in partnership with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, arrested three burglary suspects in the early hours of August 14, 2026.
Following an overnight surveillance operation addressing a recent string of commercial burglaries, Tampa Police observed the suspects target a McDonald’s before burglarizing the Taiwan Express, located at located at 11022 US Hwy 41 S, in Gibsonton.
As officers converged on the scene during the Taiwan Express burglary, one suspect fled through the rear exit and physically resisted apprehension.
During the struggle with a Tampa Police officer, an accidental discharge of the officer’s gun occurred.
There were no injuries sustained by any suspects, officers, deputies, or bystanders as a result of the discharge.
