TAMPA, FL. (April 30, 2025) – The Tampa Police Department will commemorate the sacrifices of its fallen members during the annual Tampa Police Memorial Ceremony.
Mayor Jane Castor and Chief Lee Bercaw, in partnership with the Tampa Police Memorial Committee , will lead a tribute to the thirty-two officers of the Tampa Police Department who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our community, as well as all law enforcement officers across the nation who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
The memorial will take place on Wednesday, May 1, 2025, at 7:00 PM in front of the Monument to Fallen Officers at One Police Center.
The ceremony will feature the Tampa Police Honor Guard, a traditional 21-Gun Salute, the symbolism of a Riderless Horse, the St. Andrew’s Pipes & Drums of Tampa Bay, and a flyover by the Tampa Police Aviation Unit.
The Tampa Police Department extends an invitation for our community to stand alongside the men and women of the department as they honor the memory of our thirty-two fallen officers. This solemn occasion serves as a poignant reminder of the unwavering dedication and profound risks undertaken by law enforcement professionals.
According to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial, since the first recorded police death in 1786, more than 24,000 law enforcement officers have been killed in the line of duty. This underscores the inherent dangers faced by those who serve and protect our communities, a reality reflected in the thirty-two Tampa Police Department officers whose names are forever etched in Tampa Police Department history.
For those unable to attend the ceremony in person, a live stream will be available at www.facebook.com/TampaPD .
