The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a suspect involved in an armed carjacking that occurred in Southeast.
On Friday, June 13, 2025, at approximately 10:03 a.m., the suspect approached the victim, who was seated on a moped near 9Th Street and G Street, Southeast. The suspect brandished a handgun, pointed it at the victim, and a physical altercation ensued. Responding officers arrived on the scene and arrested the suspect before he was able to take the victim’s moped.
18-year-old Dayshawn Lee of Southeast, D.C., was charged with Armed Carjacking (Gun), Possession of a Large Capacity Ammunition Feeding Device, and Possession of Unregistered Ammunition.
This case remains under investigation and detectives are searching for an additional suspect. Anyone who has knowledge of this incident should take no action but call police
