Houston police have arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of a male and the wounding of another that occurred at 9550 North Wayside Drive about 11:35 a.m. on Saturday (January 17).
The juvenile suspect, 16, has been referred to the Harris County Juvenile Probation Authorities on charges of capital murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The identity of juvenile suspects is not releasable.
The identity of the deceased male, 16, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Dudley and Detective K. Heaverlo reported:
Officers responded to a shooting call at the above address and located two males inside a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported one male to an area hospital where doctors pronounced him deceased.
A second male, 15, was also transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
Witnesses reported hearing a car crash, which was later identified as the victims’ vehicle, striking a curb and then a bridge as they attempted to flee the shooting. Narcotics were also found in the crashed vehicle.
On Wednesday (Jan. 21) a juvenile suspect turned himself in to HPD homicide. After further investigation, detectives conferred with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office who accepted charges of capital murder and aggravated assault. The juvenile was then transported to the Harris County Juvenile Probation center.
