Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal crash that killed a woman at 2401 South Gessner about 3:30 p.m. on June 25.
The suspect, Keith Bembry Sims, 33, is charged with manslaughter and failure to stop and render in an accident resulting in death in the 337th and 185th Criminal District Court, respectively.
The identity of the victim, 31, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives A. Herrera and L. Brooks reported:
HPD officers responded to a crash at an apartment complex at the above address and located the female victim. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced her deceased at the scene.
Officers obtained surveillance video that showed a box truck struck the female. A short time later, officers located the box truck and its driver, Keith Bembry Sims, was taken into custody without incident.
Detectives consulted the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and Sims was subsequently arrested and charged for his role in this incident.
