Suspect Charged in Fatal West Fuqua Crash

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in a fatal crash at 3800 West Fuqua Street about 10:45 p.m. on Saturday (May 10).

The juvenile male suspect, 16, was referred to the Harris County Juvenile Probation Authorities on a charge of failure to stop and render aid. Names and booking photos of juvenile suspects are not releasable.

The identity of the deceased male, 14, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Dallas and Officer A. Thomas reported:

A gray Buick Enclave was traveling westbound at the above address, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree in the median. The vehicle then came back onto the lanes of the roadway and came to a stop across both lanes.

Both the male driver, 16, and the male front passenger, 14, fled the scene on foot, but later returned. The back passenger of the vehicle remained trapped in the vehicle. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

Paramedics transported the driver to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was then taken into custody and and subsequently charged.
