Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 410 North Sam Houston Parkway East (Beltway 8) about 5:20 a.m. on March 1.
The suspect, Jonathon M. Brewer Jr., 28, is charged with murder in the 482nd Criminal District Court. Brewer’s booking photo is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Deiveyon Edison, 32.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant M. Cass and Detective J. Brown reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call in the parking lot of a business at the above address and found a male with multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the male, later identified as Mr. Edison, to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Investigators learned Edison was leaving a business when an altercation broke out, eventually leading to the shooting.
Further investigation identified Jonathon Brewer as a suspect in this incident. Detectives and members of HPD’s North Belt Division Crime Suppression Team arrested him on Tuesday (March 3). Brewer admitted to his role in the incident and he was subsequently charged and booked into the Harris County jail.
