Suspect Charged in Fatal Shooting on MLK Blvd

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 6500 Martin Luther King Boulevard about 9:45 p.m. on Friday (February 20).

The suspect, Andre Demetrius Ball, 20 is charged with murder in the 179th Criminal District Court. Ball’s booking photo is attached to this news release.

The victim is identified as Devontray Laws, 25.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant L. Kauffman and Detective A. Beiza reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting in a parking lot at the above address and found a male suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced Mr. Laws deceased at the scene.

Officers located a male who admitted to his role in the shooting. Detectives consulted the Harris County District Attorney’s office, and the male suspect, Ball, was charged for his role in this incident. He was subsequently booked into the Harris County jail.
