Suspect Charged in Fatal Shooting at West Fuqua St

Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 6607 West Fuqua Street about 9:30 p.m. on May 18.

Jeremiah Spears-Jackson, 21, is charged with murder in the 502nd Fort Bend County Criminal District Court. A booking photo of Spears-Jackson is not available at this time.

The victim is identified as Michael Simmons, 42.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Elsbury and Detectives D. Arnold, J. Diaz and A. Hernandez reported:

Officers responded to a report of a shooting in a business parking lot at the above address and learned the victim had been shot at least one time. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Further investigation determined the victim may have been involved in a verbal dispute with a group of individuals immediately before the shooting. Immediately after the shooting the suspects were seen running on foot westbound from the location. Photos of persons of interest were released, and the suspect was identified as Jeremiah Spears-Jackson.

On Thursday (Sept. 17), Spears-Jackson was arrested and charged with murder. He is booked into the Fort Bend County Jail. A second suspect died in an unrelated incident in May 2026.
