Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal crash that occurred at 3000 Eastex Freeway about 10 p.m. on Friday (May 9).
Brandon Lynn Plattenburg, 26, is charged with intoxication manslaughter in the 174th State District Court. A booking photo of Plattenburg is not available at this time.
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Richards and Officer J. Johnson reported:
Plattenburg was driving a gray Dodge Ram 1500 northbound on the Eastex Freeway when he lost control of the truck and struck the left retaining wall. After striking the wall, the Dodge spun facing southbound and caught fire.
Plattenburg exited the vehicle however the passenger was not able to exit. Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
Plattenburg was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries. Subsequent investigation found that he was intoxicated and he was charged.
