Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 11999 East Freeway about 1:30 a.m. on Saturday (May 11).
Douglas Tyrone Hicks, 63, is charged with murder in the 182nd State District Court. A booking photo of Hicks is attached to this news release.
The identity of the deceased male, 29, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives M. Castillo and E. Camacho reported:
Officers responded to a report of a shooting at a motel at the above address and found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Responding Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at the location.
While officers were at the location they were approached by a male who stated he was the shooter. He was identified as Hicks.
Witnesses stated Hicks and the victim had a verbal argument earlier in the evening. The victim then left and when he returned he encountered Hicks in the parking lot. They began arguing again and Hicks pulled out a gun and shot the victim.
Investigators consulted the Harris County District Attorney’s Officer who accepted charges of murder against Hicks and the was subsequently booking into the Harris County Jail.
