Suspect Arrested, Charged in West Bellfort Shooting

Houston police have arrested a suspect charged in the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 8300 West Bellfort about 6:50 p.m. on August 26.

The suspect, Jacque Jamar Malveaux, 41, is charged with murder and unlawful possession of a firearm in the 180th Criminal District Court . A booking photo of Malveaux is attached to this news release.

The victim is identified as Shawn Malveaux, 52.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives D. Higgs and B. Stephens reported:

Officers responded to a report of a shooting at the above address and found a male lying on the ground. He had been shot multiple times and responding Houston Fire Department paramedics transported him to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The suspect was described only as a Hispanic male wearing a mask, white t-shirt and black shorts and had fled on foot eastbound on W. Bellfort. With assistance from the Houston Metro Police Department the suspect was identified as Jacque Malveaux, the victim’s nephew. HPD’s Southeast Patrol Tactical Unit along with assistance from the HPD South Gessner Tactical Unit was able to locate Malveaux and he was arrested without incident on Monday (September 8).
