Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at at 2451 Hayes Road about 3:15 a.m. on Sunday (Nov. 2).
The suspect, Gabriel Isaiah Menefee, 23, is charged with murder in the 263rd Criminal District Court. A booking photo of Menefee is attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Jaylon Ward, 25.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Montalvo and Detective D. Higgs reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting call at a hotel at the above address and found a male who had suffered at least one gunshot wound inside a room. Paramedics pronounced the male, later identified as Mr. Ward, deceased at the scene.
Investigators learned the male was shot after an argument with another person(s) inside the room.
Further investigation identified Menefee as the suspect in this case. He was subsequently arrested on Thursday (November 6) and charged for his role in this incident.
Another suspect, Kaleb Bates, 17, was arrested and charged with theft in the 263rd Criminal District Court in connection to an auto theft in this incident. A booking photo of Bates is also attached to this news release.
