Suspect Arrested, Charged in 2018 Clarke Springs Murder

Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 15810 Clarke Springs about 1:05 a.m. in August 15, 2018.

The suspect, Jeremiah Bryant, 39, is charged with murder in the 180th State District Court. A booking photo of Bryant is attached to this news release.

The victim, Michael Lawson, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD Homicide Division Sergeants J. Burton and M. Burrow reported:

Mr. Lawson and his son were walking through their neighborhood toward a convenience store near the above address when a brown or burgundy four-door vehicle, possibly a Toyota Camry, approached them. An unknown suspect(s) fired shots from inside the vehicle at them and Lawson was struck. The son was not injured. The vehicle was last seen traveling northbound on Clarke Springs toward Beltway 8.

Further investigation identified Jeremiah Bryant as the suspect. Bryant was arrested on Thursday (August 21). He was subsequently charged for his role in this incident and booked into the Harris County Jail.
