30 a.m., Southeast patrol officers responded to a disturbance near MLK Boulevard and Forest Avenue. According to the initial investigation, it started with a verbal argument. Things quickly escalated when the suspect-44-year-old Christopher Morton-pulled out a gun and fired at the victim. Fortunately, no one was hit.
Officers immediately chased Morton on foot and arrested him. Morton is charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Manufacture / Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Evading Arrest or Detention with Previous Conviction – all of which are felony offenses.
“This is what good police work looks like,” said Interim Assistant Chief Richard Foy. “The Southeast Patrol Division is focused on getting violent offenders off the streets and driving down crime in our communities.”
This goal is pursued every single day and accomplished one arrest at a time.
