The Dallas Police Department’s Domestic Violence, Central CRT/Deployment, and Fugitive Units arrested 31-year-old Trakari Brown on July 1, 2025, for multiple family violence-related offenses.
In June 2025, a victim reported to the Dallas Police Department that Brown had been stalking them on several occasions; Brown and victim are known to one another. During the investigation, it was determined that Brown hit the victim with a brick.
As the investigation continued, detectives learned that another agency in the Dallas area was investigating Brown for similar family violence offenses against the same victim.
On July 1, 2025, at about 12 a.m., Brown, now armed with a handgun, kicked in the door to the residence of a different victim, hit the victim several times, damaged property, and stole the victim’s wallet and car keys. Brown took the victim’s car and used it to leave the location. Brown and the victim are also known to one another in this incident.
Just hours later, on July 1 at about 3:45 p.m., Central CRT and Fugitive Unit officers located Brown, conducted a traffic stop, and took him into custody.
“I am grateful to the Dallas Police officers and detectives who worked tirelessly to investigate these family violence offenses – some of the most sensitive cases we handle,” said Assistant Chief Teena Schultz. “I also commend the victim who had the courage to come forward; speaking out is often the hardest and most crucial step in an investigation like this. If you or someone you know has been the victim of a family violence crime, please call 9-1-1.”
Brown was charged with Continuous Violence Against the Family and Stalking, both third-degree felonies. He was also arrested on his felony and misdemeanor warrants out of another agency. These investigations are documented under case numbers 089171-2025 and 082226-2025.
