Houston police need the public’s help locating a person of interest wanted for questioning in the fatal shooting of one man and wounding of another at 12330 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 5 a.m. on April 4.
The person of interest is identified as Rudy Gomez Jr., 21. Photos of Gomez Jr., who is not charged, are attached to this news release.
The victim is identified as Miguel Padila, 33.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant A. Dudley and Detective K. Heaverlo reported:
HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a business at the above address. They located an unresponsive male in the parking lot and a second injured male inside the building. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male in the parking lot deceased and transported the injured male to an area hospital. He is expected to survive his injury.
On April 9, detectives released a video of six individuals who may have information about the incident. Further investigation identified Rudy Gomez Jr. as a person of interest.
