Police Probe Death of Man on Flamingo Drive

Houston police are awaiting autopsy results in the death of a male found following a house fire at 5738 Flamingo Drive about 10:40 p.m. on Monday (Jan. 26).

The identity and cause of death of the male, 78, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Sergeant K. Meek and Detective E. Camacho reported:

HPD officers were patrolling the area when they observed a large fire at the above address. Officers arrived and found Houston Fire Department firefighters and paramedics removing the male from the house. The male was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

The male’s 55-year old son was able to leave the residence and had sustained minor injuries.

The investigation is pending the male’s cause of death, to be determined by an autopsy. The cause of the fire will be investigated by the HFD Arson Bureau.
