Police Chief Sets Four Juvenile Curfew Zones

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announces the establishment of a Juvenile Curfew Zone.

Mayor’s Order 2026-086 gives the Chief of the Metropolitan Police Department the authority to designate a Juvenile Curfew Zone, applicable to a group of at least nine youth, in an area at risk for disorderly conduct by youth.

The perimeter of the Navy Yard Juvenile Curfew Zone is as follows:

To the north:

  • Interstate 695 (Southeast/Southeast Freeway) from South Capitol Street, SE to 8th Street, SE

To the east:

  • 8th Street, SE from Interstate 695 to the Anacostia River

To the south:

  • Anacostia River

To the west:

  • South Capitol Street, SE from the Anacostia River to Interstate 695

The perimeter of the Waterfront Juvenile Curfew Zone is as follows:

To the north:

  • Interstate 695 (Southeast-Southwest Freeway) from the Washington Channel to South Capitol Street, SW

To the east:

  • South Capitol Street, SW from Interstate 695 to Anacostia River

To the south:

  • P Street, SW, from the Washington Channel to 2nd Street, SW
  • Anacostia River from 2nd Street, SW, to South Capitol Street, SW

To the west:

  • Washington Channel from Interstate 695 (Southeast/Southwest Freeway) to P Street, SW
  • 2nd Street, SW, from P Street, SW, to Anacostia River

The perimeter of the U Street Corridor Juvenile Curfew Zone is as follows:

To the north:

  • V Street from 13th Street to Vermont Avenue, NW
  • Vermont Avenue from V Street to Florida Avenue, NW
  • Florida Avenue from Vermont Avenue to V Street, NW
  • Florida Avenue from 9th Street to 7th Street, NW

To the east:

  • 9th Street from V Street to Florida Avenue, NW
  • 7th Street from Florida Avenue to T Street, NW

To the south:

T Street from 7th Street to 13th Street, NW

To the west:

  • 13th Street from T Street to V Street, NW

The perimeter of the Banneker Juvenile Curfew Zone is as follows:

To the north:

  • Euclid Street from 9th Street from Georgia Avenue, NW

To the east:

  • Georgia Avenue from Euclid Street to W Street, NW

To the south:

  • W Street from Georgia Avenue to 9th Street, NW

To the west:

  • 9th Street from W Street to Euclid Street, NW

These Curfew Zones will be in effect from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, Saturday, May 23, Sunday, May 24, and Monday, May 25, 2026.

Within a Juvenile Curfew Zone, persons under 18 are prohibited from gathering in a group of nine (9) or more in any public place or on the premises of any establishment unless engaged in certain exempted activities, which are listed here .

MPD reminds the public that a citywide curfew is in effect for all juveniles under 18 beginning nightly at 11:00 p.m., lasting until 6:00 a.m. the following morning.
