Officer-Involved Shooting on Far Hills Lane

Dallas Police

On August 26, 2025, at about 7:40 pm, Dallas Police responded to call for service in the 13800 block of Far Hills Lane regarding a man threatening everyone in a house with a knife and threatening to harm himself. The preliminary investigation determined that upon arrival, officers knocked on the front door, which was answered by a woman. Officers entered the home and immediately encountered a man armed with a knife. Despite repeated loud verbal commands to drop the knife, the man refused to comply. Officers safely moved the woman away from the residence, while the armed man followed them outside, still holding the knife. Shortly after, the man went back inside the house. Officers positively identified the man, who had an active warrant for insufficient bond for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, family violence. The SWAT Team was notified and responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, SWAT officers issued multiple loud verbal commands instructing the man to exit the residence. When there was no compliance, SWAT made entry into the home, where they encountered the man still armed with the knife. Officers deployed a taser, followed by a second deployment, and both attempts were ineffective. The man moved toward the officers with the knife in his hand, resulting in the officers discharging their firearms, hitting the man. Our Tactical Medical Officer, a SWAT doctor, was at the scene, and officers provided emergency medical treatment to the subject. The man died at the scene.

No officers were injured; no other people were injured.
