Dallas Police
On August 16, 2026, at approximately 3:50 a.m., Dallas Police responded to a Shooting call in the 3100 block of South Westmoreland Road. The preliminary investigation determined that an off-duty Arlington officer was shot by 33-year-old Darriyous Johunkin.
The officer was transported by Dallas Fire-Rescue to a local hospital in stable condition.
Johunkin was arrested on scene, transported to Lew Sterrett Jail, and is being charged with Aggravated Assault – Deadly Weapon.
