On May 16, 2026, Dallas Police responded to a local hospital to take a report of an assault that occurred in the 200 block of Fran Way on May 15 at approximately 5 p.m. The preliminary investigation determined that 18-year-old Xavier Phifer assaulted a pregnant woman at the location, and she was taken to the hospital by private vehicle. While at the hospital, it was discovered that the woman’s unborn child had died. Phifer was arrested on May 21, 2026, and charged with Assault of Pregnant Person, a third-degree felony. Phifer and the victim are known to one another.
Further investigation determined that the unborn child’s death was related to the physical assault. As a result, Phifer has also been charged with Injury to a Child, a first-degree felony. He remains in the Dallas County Jail. This ongoing investigation is documented under case number 070044-2026.
