55 p.m. on September 5 will be referred to a Harris County Grand Jury.
The identity of the deceased male, 31, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives M. Cater and A. Rodriguez reported:
HPD patrol officers to a shooting at a hospital at the above address and located a male inside the emergency room. He had suffered more than one gunshot wound. Doctors pronounced the male deceased.
Detectives learned the male displayed a knife to staff and uniformed security guards while inside the emergency room. Security guards gave the male commands to drop the knife. He did not comply. The guards also used non-lethal tactics, discharging tasers. A security discharged his duty weapon, striking the armed suspect after he advanced towards the guards.
Investigators met with the parties involved, and after consulting with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, it was determined the shooting would be referred to a Harris County Grand Jury.
