Fatal Shooting Probed at 8200 Park Place Blvd

Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of an armed suspect by Houston Metro Police Department officers about 10:15 a.m. on Saturday (May 16).

The identity of the deceased male, 22, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Homicide Special Investigations Unit Sergeant E. Wohlgemuth and Detectives H. Le and A. Gomez reported:

Houston Metro Police Department officers responded to a report of a suspicious person at the above address. Upon arrival they found the suspect matching the reported description and armed with a large knife. Officers attempted to get the male to drop the knife, however he charged at the officers with the knife in hand. Two Metro PD officers discharged their duty weapons, striking the suspect.

The suspect was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

No Metro PD officers were injured in the incident.

As is customary in officer-involved shooting incidents in the city limits, the case is being investigated by the HPD Special Investigations Unit.
