Houston police are investigating the fatal shooting of a man that occurred at 6607 West Fuqua Street about 9:30 p.m. on Sunday (May 18).
The victim is identified as Michael Simmons, 42.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant W. Elsbury and Detectives D. Arnold, J. Diaz and A. Hernandez reported:
Officers responded to a report of a shooting in a business parking lot at the above address and learned the victim had been shot at least one time. He was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Further investigation determined the victim may have been involved in a verbal dispute with a group of individuals immediately before the shooting. The group consisted of two black males, approximately 17 to 20 years old and a black female, approximately 17 to 20 years old. Immediately after the shooting all three were seen running on foot westbound from the location.
