Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred in the 2400 block of Summer Street about 9:40 a.m. today (June 3).
The identity of the deceased female is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer L. Ho reported:
A black Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling westbound at the above address when a female was attempting to cross the roadway in an unmarked crosswalk. The vehicle struck the pedestrian. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported her to an area hospital where he was she was pronounced deceased.
The male driver of the Chevrolet remained at the scene, did no show signs of intoxication and was questioned and released.
The investigation is ongoing.
