Houston police are investigating the fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred at 7201 South Sam Houston Parkway East (Beltway 8) service road about 10:20 p.m. on Friday (Feb. 27).
The victim is identified as Juston Smith, 24.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Barrow and Officer J. Rincon reported:
A blue BMW 740 was traveling eastbound near the above address when the driver struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian was standing in the main lanes of the roadway searching for a lost item when the accident occurred.
Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the male deceased at the scene.
The male driver of the BMW, 50, remained at the scene, did not show signs of intoxication and was questioned and released.
The investigation is ongoing.
