Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred at 700 Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) about 11:50 p.m. on Monday (January 12).
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer A. Thomas reported:
A black Infiniti QX60 was traveling eastbound near the above address when the driver struck a pedestrian attempting to walk onto the main lanes. The driver of the Infiniti pulled over and called 911. A black Mercedes C250 also struck the pedestrian.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male pedestrian deceased at the scene.
The female driver, 36, of the Infiniti and the male driver, 22, of the Mercedes remained at the scene. Both drivers did not show signs of intoxication, and were questioned and released.
