Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 10400 Almeda Road about 1:50 a.m. today (July 10).
The identity of the deceased female is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer C. Brother reported:
An unknown vehicle, described only as a pick-up truck, was traveling northbound on Almeda Road at the above address when the female fell out of the bed of the truck. She was then struck by another unknown vehicle also traveling northbound. Both vehicles then fled the scene without stopping to render aid.
The female was transported to an area hospital by Houston Fire Department paramedics where she was pronounced deceased. Witnesses stated the female had been standing, possibly dancing, in the bed of the truck when she fell out.
The investigation is ongoing.
