Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash in the 7700 block of Westpark Drive about 11:25 p.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 16).
The identity of the deceased male is pending identification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Midwest Patrol Division officers and Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Dallas and Officer M. Keita reported:
A silver Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling eastbound at the above address when the driver struck a male pedestrian attempting to cross the street, not in a crosswalk. The male was transported to Ben Taub Hospital where doctors later pronounced him deceased.
The male driver, 54, of the Jeep remained at the scene. He was questioned and released.
The investigation is ongoing.
