Houston police are investigating the fatal auto-pedestrian crash that occurred in the 9000 block of Sweetwater Lane about 8:40 p.m. on Saturday (January 3).
The identity of the deceased male, 63, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Barrow and R. McLemore reported:
A black Chevrolet Silverado was traveling southbound at the above address when it struck two males in the roadway, one on foot and another on a bicycle. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced one person deceased at the scene and transported the second male to an area hospital in critical condition.
The roadway was no well-lit and in a commercial area. The male driver, 40, stated he did not see the two males until the last moment. He called 9-1-1 and remained at the scene. He was determined to not be impaired and was questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
