Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 2700 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) about 3:10 a.m. today (May 29).
The identity of the deceased female, 31, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer F. Flynn reported:
A gray Mazda 3 was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on the North Freeway when the driver struck the barrier and rolled over several times before coming to a rest in the main lanes of the freeway. The driver (victim) was ejected from the vehicle.
The driver of a blue Lexus RX350 then struck the Mazda. The driver of a white Ford Fusion then attempted to avoid striking the Lexus but then struck the driver of the Lexus who had exited their vehicle and was standing on the freeway. A white Honda Civic then struck the Mazda and pulled over on the main lanes of the freeway and was struck from behind by a fifth vehicle, a…….
The driver of the Mazda was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics. The driver of the Lexus was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.
The investigation is continuing.
