DPD Recruit Hurt in Motorcycle Crash, DWI Arrest Made

Dallas Police

On March 2, 2026, at approximately 12:25 a.m., a Dallas Police recruit was involved in a motorcycle crash in the 300 block of west Kiest Boulevard. The preliminary investigation determined that a suspect, later identified as 19-year-old Samantha Bonilla, collided with the recruit’s motorcycle when she swerved into another lane. The recruit was off-duty at the time, and riding home after studying with his academy classmates. The recruit was transported to the hospital for a precautionary evaluation, and Bonilla was arrested at the scene and charged with Driving While Intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor.

“We’re thankful our recruit is going to be okay. He was simply heading home after studying with fellow recruits when he was struck by a driver who chose to get behind the wheel impaired,” said Chief Daniel C. Comeaux. “Thankfully, his injuries appear minor, and he’s being checked out as a precaution. Let this be a reminder, impaired driving is never worth the risk. Make a plan, call a ride, and help us keep everyone safe.”

This investigation is documented under case numbers 029443-2026 and 029462-2026.
