Dallas Police, Partners Rescue Eight Dogs

Dallas Police

Dallas Police Animal Cruelty Unit detectives partnered with Dallas Animal Services (DAS) and Operation Kindness to rescue eight dogs from a dog fighting environment.

A Dallas Police Animal Cruelty investigation led detectives to three properties in Southeast Dallas, where the K9 Unit and Southeast CRT executed search warrants on July 18, 2025. Alongside DAS and partners from partners at Operation Kindness, detectives seized evidence of dog fighting and rescued eight dogs that were cruelly confined and neglected. Four of the puppies were emaciated and required immediate medical care.

“These dogs were rescued from an incredibly cruel environment. Our animal cruelty investigations benefit from a strong partnership with Dallas Animal Services and Operation Kindness, and we aggressively pursue justice for those who intentionally mistreat animals,” said Assistant Chief Teena Schultz.

Gerald Brooks, 53, was arrested and charged with five counts of Dog Fighting, a class A misdemeanor. This investigation is documented under case number 032021-2025.
