Dallas Police: Officer-Involved Shooting on Fairview

55 a.m., Dallas Police responded to a call in the 3000 block of Fairview Avenue about a man in the street with a knife.

The preliminary investigation determined that the man with a knife was kicking on the door of a residence and putting the knife to his neck.

Officers arrived and gave the man loud verbal commands to drop the knife. The man did not drop the knife.

The officers used less-lethal force, but it was unsuccessful. Officers gave more loud verbal commands.

The man advanced towards one of the officers, at which time the officer fired their duty pistol, hitting the man.

The officers rendered medical aid, including CPR, until Dallas Fire-Rescue arrived.

The man was transported to the hospital where he died.

The knife was recovered, and no officers were injured.

The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office responded to the scene and will conduct their own investigation.

The Office of Community Police Oversight also responded.
