Southwest Patrol officers arrested 54-year-old David Frank after responding to an active shooter call on July 16, 2025, in the 1500 block of north Beckley Avenue.
Officers were called to the area at about 9:45 p.m. after witnesses saw a man shooting at a car. The officers arrived and found Frank at a residence on Beckley Avenue, along with fired cartridge casings and possible blood on the ground – evidence of a recent shooting. Detectives were called in, a search warrant was obtained, and Southwest CRT officers executed the warrant.
The search resulted in the seizure of two handguns, ammunition, body armor, and the discovery of gang paraphernalia and memorabilia associated with a known motorcycle gang. A second search warrant was granted to seize the gang paraphernalia and memorabilia, including a leather vest or “cut” with patches associated with motorcycle gangs.
“Although there were no formal reports of aggravated assault, our officers and detectives used strategic investigative tools to continue working the case, which led to a dangerous gang member off the street,” said Deputy Chief Majusta Allen.
Frank was arrested and charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon with a Felony Conviction, a second-degree felony; Unlawful Possession of Body Armor by a Felon, a third-degree felony; and Discharge of a Firearm in Certain Municipalities, a class-A misdemeanor.
This investigation is documented under case number 101398-2025.
