Arrest Made in Northwest Stabbing, DC Police Report

The Metropolitan Police Department announces an arrest in a stabbing that occurred in Northwest.

On Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at approximately 4:58 p.m., the victim was walking in the 900 block of G Street, Northwest, when he bumped into the suspect. The victim and the suspect then engaged in a verbal altercation, and the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim. The suspect then grabbed the victim’s phone from where it had fallen on the ground and fled.

DC Library Police stopped the suspect nearby. 30-year-old Isiah Robert Barnes, of no fixed address, was placed under arrest and charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Knife), Theft II, and Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol. The knife believed to have been used in the offense has been recovered.
